Considering it gets Protect now according to the datamine, yes. Heck, even without Protect it still has good enough bulk you could switch in on a weak move and have Slow Start fade before you even need to attack.

Depends on how the mechanics work. If you hard switched into rgigas from the bench would he be ready to move right away just how toxic orb and flame orb users have their items activate ready for the next turn when you hard switch them in?

Kinda? I'm by no means a competitive battler but he has a considerable amount of coverage on top of learning great physical moves. His ability is the main reason he suffers so bad.

Nah he's ok on that regard.
Right now it's gigacucked because he needs to run two status moves just to survive his 5 turns.

It would be interesting if Slow Start turns counted across switch ins, so you can have him one turn, put him away, then put him in again. He could be an interesting sweeper a la Snorlax. Probably not higher than RU though.

Normal type doesn’t resist ANYTHING bar ghost immunity (which is immune to normal too) and is weak to FIGHTING (a very bad weakness to have). It’s horrible defensively unless you have minmaxed bulk like Chansey/Blissey

In gen 4, maybe. After that no because his offense is not that impressive without a damage boosting ability and weak coverage outside of earthquake.
