That's kind of a problem because they clearly don't take into account why certain mons are used so much.
Porygon-2, Indeedee, Torkoal, and Incineroar are primarily utility/support mons.

No. Smogon specifically targets which mons are broken and warping the metagame to make it less balanced and ban the problematic mons.
Gamefreak's ban is completely unbiased and arbitrary, which makes it better.

5 is a relatively low number.
/vp/ has twice that many threads for a regular ban voted on by the people.
VGC banning 16 mons at once, especially when VGCfags shit on Smogon for banning so much, should be filling the catalog.
