alright bros, r8 my concept. Spongrain (Sponge+grain, sponge+brain) Grass/Psychic Ability: Filter, water absorb Stats: 55/40/100/80/130/5 Notable moves: Recover, Ingrain, Psychic Terrain, Grassy Terrain, screens, aromatherapy, calm mind, giga drain, soak, bubble beam Yes, I know sea sponges aren't literally plants, but this is more of a functional typing. I kind of just want filter on a tank in the supposed worst type just to see what would happen.

The total stats might be bad, maybe put speed around 15 or 30 and Attack at 55, as 5 base Speed is something even below Shuckle. Filter fits kinda well, not only with the design but also due to its many weaknesses despite its bane to Bug-type when bugs aren't usually in salt water. Water Absorb fits also well in the design, Storm Drain also works if you want a hidden ability on that.

>>44576917 Amoongus is grass/poison, which is a much better defensive typing than Grass/Psychic and it has spore 100/130 is good but the 55 HP and the typing, plus the speed will make it NU at best, only because of Grass Surge.

>100/130 is good but the 55 HP and the typing raise it to 65 or 70HP and give it Storm Drain
>plus the speed will make it NU at best >m-m-muh 160 Base Speed Ninjask! >only because of Grass Surge. it doesn't have Grassy Surge

>>44577041 the HP at 55 isn't really as bad as it would at first seem. Because HP is calculated differently to other stats, everything short of shedinja basically gets a free 50 on top of what they have. 55 fully invested is only marginally less HP than amoongus's 114 uninvested (see pyukumuku).
That said, regenerator and spore probably do make amoongus better in a lot of cases.

Being a stall/heal mom means this thing is either useless garbage if it's bad or if it's good it's 100% not fun to use or play against so either way I hate it. Back to the drawing board OP.

>>44576911 >>44577124 you could add some rock moves to the table for sea sponges being stuck on rocks, like Ancient Power, Stealth Rock and Meteor Beam. Also, due to being a subjective typing, it should also have access to Scald, Ice Beam and Blizzard like common water-types possess. Strength Sap would be quite the addition for a grass-type that lives on the ocean floor.
