/r/Pokemon used to be full of apologists and GF bootlickers, but ever since LGPE got announced, the sub became similar to /vp/ discussion-wise. The only thing /vp/ has an edge is the amount of OC and leaks that it churns out. If both boards got merged, we would see less OC and we will see more whining and butthurt.
