A small thing that sucks about those games is how the item selection is almost identical to Gen I. This means that the "good" held items from RSE like the black belt or whatever are really fucking hard to get. I guess you are supposed to Thief it from other trainers but like why? Even berries are super rare in the main story. Also fuck the game corner.
V.S. Seeker is great though and is a godsend for grinding. Ironically, the best grinding spot pre E4 is on One Island. Kanto can feel like a slog because the wild encounters are garbage which give no exp. Grinding in Ruby (which I finished yesterday) was also a pain in the ass.
