>>44583802the pulse channels are detuned but the wave channel is not, given the occasional mistakes present in gsc's ost (such as route 1's loop error) i'm willing to bet that this is negligence, and they meant to detune the entire track
the track seemingly exists for the sole purpose of being as small a footprint as possible, too. the drum loop is literally just 4 notes, and the entire "verse" is just the same very short loop played over and over again, with the first pulse channel slowly desynchronising itself (which is why the track ends so pathetically, with the two c#s on channel 1 - the first pulse channel is desynchronised, so the track needs to wait for it to finish so that it can resychronise)
during the "intro", the pulse channels use no volume fadeout. this is really bizzare for gen 2's style, but what's really telling is that they actually initialise channel 1 to have a very slow fadeout, but then they immediately override that.
in addition, even though this track exists for the sole purpose of being tiny (the .asm file is 3kb, the fucking printer error music is bigger than that), they STILL fucked up the optimisation. the bass simply plays the same pattern of notes over and over again, swapping instrument half way through - but for some ungodly reason, they play an identical copy of the pattern when using the alternate instrument, rather than just swapping instrument and then playing the original pattern.
anybody who says this track has "soul" hasn't got a fucking clue what they're on about, this is a track born out of soul crushing indifference
