The life form itself is up for debate, but "Genesect" the species refers to it after being modified by Team Plasma, just like how Mewtwo has a different name despite being a mutated Mew, or Type:Null literally just being Silvally with a mask

Not cringe. The palm tree pokemon is native to pokemon hawaii. Regardless of what you think of gen 7 it makes sense and is a good “retcon” in a void
