The only way to fix the level curve is to make everyone else 80-90 when you get to Kanto, meaning you better have finished Johto with an Lv. 85 Pokémon, but you'd bitch about the grind after that. There's no winning, it's not 1999 anymore, what's your solution to the issue?

The league should've been in the 60s, with the last 4 gyms updated to get there. Then Kanto could've been in the 70s and Red could still be in the 80s. There's no good reason to have gyms 5-7 all at the same level.

Johto is honestly the closest to a work of art we'll ever come to in Pokemon. Most of the artwork using gentle watercolors, soul that oozes from every pixel of the game, lush and fulfilling environments everywhere, it was magical as a kid, and it's still magical today. Again, the point of Johto is not to be 'quality' or 'memorable', it's to be a true and honest experience.
You will never understand that because you grew up with creatively bankrupt regions like Sinnoh or Unova with shonen plots and multicolored hair dykes or whatever the hell is in those games

I did, but even now I recognize it as one of the hallmarks of video gaming.
HGSS doesn't quite reach the heights G/S did, but it's still one of the few true gaming experiences released in the past decade or so.

What if they make the gyms have a level cap? This would put an emphasis on building a team and moveset. Then again this would literally cause every gym to become a level grind for new teams.

Forcing the player to stay at low level wouldn't solve the problem of the gyms being too low level. Late game gyms should not be at a level that is the same or lower than a previous gym. No amount of justification will change that.

I like HGSS Golden Edition best right now. Sacred Gold isn't bad or anything and I am eagerly awaiting the new version coming out soon but Drayano tends to flood routes and his difficulty can get annoying. Some light QoL like Golden Edition was good enough for me.

I mean he has to cram the entire National dex into one game. It can really make route encounters annoying as fuck if you're trying to find one thing specifically. In his gen 4 hacks he has to include everything from just gens 1-4 which is already messy and his gen 5 hacks includes all Unova pokemon as well which is really overboard.

Yeah, I've felt that being annoying in some of the games, especially when you're trying to get something without a fuckawful nature. I'm playing Rutile Ruby so I at least have DexNav to help some. Does that tie in to the difficulty or is there something else too?

I guess I'm a bit wrong on the difficulty. The appeal of hacks like that is the challenge in the first place. I'm just remembering roark's thunderpunch cranidos with good evs and ivs from renegade platinum, which to me might be a bit overboard considering it's the first gym but then again there's a lot of counters available at that point.

Then why didn't they revamp trainers and encounters at all. HGSS is just like ORAS but lucky enough to be sprite based, an artstyle that stands the test of time more easily. (Even though most HGSS pokémon sprites are fucking ugly, pic related for example, they can't even draw its pupil properly)
