I used Magneton on my Silver team until I realized that thundershock was the best it was getting because thunderbolt wasn’t a TM in gen 2. I love GSC but what a stupid decision.

Growlithe is a massive trap in GSC since you can't reliably get a Fire Stone until Post-Game. It's honestly better to just skip having a Fire-Type in Gen II if you don't start with Typhlosion and just opting for a Rock-Type instead.

Not true I'm using an Arcanine in my Crystal team. I got my fire stone around the 4th gym leader. Alan who you register in your pokegear can give you one. I usually while replaying crystal only add #s of swarm notifiers and people that give stones.
