>>44607619It has the usual kaizo shit, ridiculous boss teams/movesets (and this game is basically just an endless boss rush, you have like 12 rivals and run into each of them between every Gym - and thats not even including the fact that the game bugs out and replays cutscenes/boss fights if you re-enter an area for a second time), terrible movesets for the player, absurd encounter rates (some areas are literally an encounter every step) and so on.
Honestly most of that stuff doesn't even bother me, I beat Emerald Kaizo which has plenty of nonsense, but it was actually fun in parts.
The main thing separating Dark Rising for me is the fact that bosses seem to have an infinite amount of Full Restores to use whenever they get low (it might not be infinite, but I've never found the limit, it's got to be at least 10 each). Emerald Kaizo had the sense to completely disable healing in-battle for players and the AI, it makes the battles actually bearable.
Now instead of trying to win, the entire game becomes about trying to micromanage your damage output to not accidentally do too much. If at any point you accidentally get them into the red, you might as well just start over.
There's no strategy in it, I already know my team is capable of beating theirs, it's just a case of resetting over and over again until the damage rolls align to let you kill something without them healing. It's unbearable.
