For every single starter the gender ratio is 7:1. Maybe twenty years ago this was acceptable, but in 2020 is just ridiculous.

Female Pokemon are more important because a bred pokemon will be the same species as the mother. This makes female pokemon more important and making them rare like this only further exemplifies that idea of importance.
This is sexism, sexism against guys as it reduces them to nothing but commoners with no purpose other than to be slaves to that all-important female for a small chance of carrying on their genes.

Because of how breeding works.
It makes it so that it's really difficult to breed starter mons. A male and female of any species can breed as long as they're in the same egg group, but the baby will always be the female's species.
Which means that a Ditto (implied to be manmade) is practically required to keep the population stable.
The only mons with the 7 male to 1 female ratio are the starters, Eevee, Lucario, Zoroark, Togepi, Snorlax, and the fossils. All of which are either extremely rare or extinct.

That's probably not true in the wild because of handwaves, but it sure does making attempts to breed them exceedingly difficult without a Ditto.

I honestly don't like to have a female starter unless it's Chikorita, Fenniken and Popplio (but then again I don't pick these).

Female starter sounds so weak and unreliable for battles. that's why people didn't Chikorita and prefer to have a male starter.

No, chikorita was dogshit compared to the other two and coupled with being weak to the first two gyms ensured no fucker picked it, especially with Gen II's level curve and how actually grindy playing normally was back then,

If you never saw the anime, you would have no reason to assume this had to do with cloning. All we know is that Mew gave birth to Mewtwo, and that Mewtwo's genes were being spliced over a course of YEARS and that the painful experiments are what made it violent (which suggests that the experiments happened after birth).

Citation needed. If this is Let's Go stuff then it actually gets a pass since Let's Go does tie-in with the anime. But I'd still like to know what exactly is said in Let's Go that suggests this if it does
