The type isn't any where near as prevalent as ground, fire, fighting, dark and dragon. hell every competitive team carrying a steel type is just common knowledge at this point. meanwhile, in gen 7 ou, there are 11 ou fairies. four of them are good because of terrain and other bullshit. 2 of them are steel type as well. mimikyu's disguise would be good no matter what. azumarill benefits but has hp+bd as its bread and butter. ribombee has access to the best set up move in the game and clefable is just good. sure all of these pokemon benefit from fairy (not tapu bulu) but all if you removed the type all of these pokemon would be just as good as they were (except clefable). Few pokemon are good just because they are fairy but a truck load of pokemon are good just because they are steel. i don't play gen 8 competitive outside of doubles but what are the new fairy power houses there? another steel type and maybe hatterene?
