Consumerism is a generator of debt, its fashion trends are the death of character, its material goods are a waste of precious resources and time, its by-products are low quality disposables meant to keep you dependent on constant purchase. In consumerism, all moral concerns focus on who has and has not purchasing power, and all attention is taken away from the individual and to partitioning the herd by economic class. Abstract thought has no place in consumerism unless it increases productivity, this was the death of metaphysics and philosophy, just like in communist regimes.
The people hopelessly attached to this system, attracted to the herd, are ever near of being sheep themselves. Those that see it and defend it are lost.
