Everything else either sucks balls, is too late to matter, or too hard to get for it to be worth it. Combined with Diamond and Pearl's shitty Pokedex, there isn't gonna be a lot of variety in teams due to the shitty way GameFreak initially designed the games
The DP Pokedex is proof enough Game Freak doesn't know what they're doing when making the games

not them but the early routes funnel a lot of stupidly good or widely beloved shit at you, it's especially noticeable if you just go around looking at some youtuber playthroughs that the following are all usual suspects

I wouldn't say BW2 is as bad as Johto, Sinnoh or Kalos (giftmon extraordinaire) but it definitely suffers, BW is far better off when it comes to team variety despite having far less available options

I used purugly,wormadam trash,lumineon,gastrodon,drapion and carnivine for my pearl playthrough, all usable especially wormadam trash. DPP offers variety but under arbitrary gimmicks that people don't wanna wait for so they go with the convenient choices that fill up the party slots by the second gym.

BW2 gives too many stupidly good Pokemon out way too early, and XY has too many broken handouts. The games with the best distribution give room to customize without giving all of it's good Pokemon out too early on.

This is why I think the Wild Area is actually a good idea. Lots of different Pokemon to choose from. Though I still gravitated toward certain Pokemon on my second playthrough due to my preferred battle style.

If there are sinnoh remakes I think the regional dex should be expanded (but only with more gen 1-4 mons) to 300 for better variety. It’s the gen that feels the most Samey with team composition.
