I wouldn't mind a new OP type if it was something cool. Fairy is the opposite of cool. It's made for women/trannies. It's a type with a confused identity, with no throughline as to what makes a Pokemon "Fairy" or not, and the most consistent identifier is that they're cute/pink/fluffy, which is an awful thing to make a type around.

Should've just added Sound type desu. Even Light type makes more sense, and it's a retarded idea for a type.

Hardly. It still has fuck all for moves. The hardest hitting common Steel type attacks only have 80 base power. Pretty much every other type, except for Ghost and Poison, is better offensively.

Depends. It's above average both offensively and defensively, but there are a plethora of abilities that grant immunity to Water. Dry Skin, Water Absorb, and Storm Drain are all good abilities, and there are plenty of good Pokemon with them.

Because fighting isn't the best type in gen 5 lmao, like not even at all. If we go by sheer number of pokemon in OU it is water, if we go by general viability dragon is certainly up there. Part of the reason steel is so good, is because you need it to check dragons. Just follow the logic of the best type is fighting and the second best type is steel which would get fucked by fighting.

Ice was the most common coverage move in Gen 1 before there was even a good Dragon type. Dragonite in Gen 1 was used exclusively for Wrap cheese shenanigans. In Gen 2, it got outclassed by Electric, but only because Skarm. In Gen 3, again, it was the most common coverage type, and same with Gen 4.

Ice was the most common type in gen 1 because freeze was broken in a meta where it's an ohko full of fat shit. If freeze was attached to any other type and on the same mons it would be on everything still. Hitting rhydon and eggy SE isn't really that important.

Freeze is just the cherry on top. The real boon was that you'd do some massive chip. You're putting Rhydon into OHKO range from Persian's Bubblebeam, for example.

Starmie and Blissey both also deal 1/3rd - 2/5ths of Tauros' HP off of Blizzard, and nothing else in the tier can switch in, bar Lapras and Slowbro. But that freeze chance is what makes it absolutely the best coverage, since you can turn a check into a momentum drain and win.

Look I don't disagree both ice beam and blizzard are great moves, but the fact stuff is using ice beam for more freeze odds (and more pp) is just evidence how important that freeze is.

Doubtful. Ice/Bug is worse than Fire/Bug as STAB as well. Frosmoth would get fucked by Steel types. Scizor, in particular, would threaten it out just by existing, whereas Volcarona threatens Scizor.

True, but Fairy resists more important metagame types (Fighting coverage is everywhere, Knock Off is one of the most used moves) while having essentially no weaknesses. Poison and Steel coverage are so rare, and so weak, that you can easily predict what is running it. Steel is resisted by so many Pokemon you can easily just switch into one of the 150 Water types and wall it. Poison is even worse offensively.

People seem to miss the forest for the trees when saying Dragon is OP. They see how OU is full of them, but don't stop to consider that OU is full of them because most of the psuedos are Dragon. Toxapex being good doesn't make people think Poison is overpowered, but the opposite is true for Dragons.

Also yes Snubbull is most likely based on Cu-sith, not only was it originally going to be a mythical pokemon, it's also classified as THE FAIRY POKEMON.
Clefable is obviously based on pixies and fairies, it's like literally has fairy/fable in the name while being THE FAIRY POKEMON

Rapidash is a unicorn but it's not literally based on the classical version of a unicorn like the galarian version is

Fairy should be removed and Ice should be immune to Dragon instead. It'd make sense that the type that is supernaturally cold would make poikilotherms, like Dragons, freeze up before they even came into contact with the former.

Poison and Steel are the worst attacking types in the game, so Fairy effectively has no weaknesses, just like Gen 1 Normal and Gen 1 Psychic. Also, Fairy is a dramatically overpowered offensive type, too, not just overpowered defensively. It's the 2nd best defensive type in the game behind only Steel, and the 3rd best offensive type behind Fighting and Ground.

Also, it's just generally a retarded idea for a type, so people hate it naturally. It always winds up on the bottom of most liked type polls, and at the top of most hated type polls. Fairy being busted just rubs salt in the wounds of people who thought it was an awful inclusion in the first place.

Fighting was trash in Gen 1 due to having fuck all for good moves. Hi Jump Kick in Gen 1 only had 85 base power instead of its current 130, making it below average offensively with a huge drawback. Regular Jump Kick was 70 base power. Both of them were exclusive to Hitmonlee, a certified shitmon even in Gen 1. Poison still isn't an actual option for offense because Steel is completely immune to it, and it gets resisted by Poison, Ground, Rock, and Ghost. In fact, Poison got WORSE because of Fairy, since Fairy was a much better check to Fighting types, just like Fairy made Psychic and Ice worse. The Fennekin Line was obviously imagined as female, yet has the standard 8/10 male gender ratio all starters have because they want to make it harder to breed quickly. True, but I'd take it one step further and say that Sylvan was the only Gen 6 fairy type that was actually designed as a fairy. While the Gen 7-8 could all be slotted into other types with no issue, they still at least have something of an unified theme that makes fairy the "cute magical shit" type. That's nowhere to be found in the Gen 6 fairies. I'd hazard that fairy type was added really late in development and they had to scramble to retcon some mons into it.

No. Fire is so bad in gen 1 that the only OU mon that runs it outside the Fire-types themselves is Tauros, and that's purely for the purpose of burning other Tauros.
Fire had good moves but was a terrible attacking type before Steel arrived.
