yeah I love how they tried something new by giving me a leaf/flame/aqua starter from professor tree who also gives my rival the starter with the other type so we can go beat the 8 gym leaders and the elite four while encountering team bad guy along the way just like KANTOOOOOOOOOOOO

It's the other way around. It's about stopping team bad guy and you just happen to take on the League. If it weren't for N the protagonist wouldn't have bothered going to the Elite Four
