I thought they were supposed to match the 3 birds from gen 1.
Lugia gets the 3 birds, Ho-oh gets the 3 dogs.
Both with same type coverage

It's the exact reason I thought she was grass type though.
She gets Magical Leaf very quickly and it became a main move I used for her until I gave her Psychic.

Long ago when playing diamond this ruin maniac guy said "let's have a race I will clear this cave the more unown you catch" My little autistic brain thought he meant "Let's have an unown race" so I was like "awesome we're going to have our unown race to the end of the cave? sweet"
Got extremely frustrated because no matter how much unown I added to my party or how far I got in the game he still wouldn't do the "unown race" minigame.

I later found out months later he meant "catch all types of unown and the cave is cleared" and there wasn't an "unown racing" minigame

Thought the same thing about Grass/Psychic because of Venusaur, Vileplume and Victreebel. Didn't realize dual type was a thing until Gen II.

I was watching my brother play Pokemon Stadium back in the day, fighting a Dragonite with his Venusaur
And I swear he used two different statuses on the Dragonite and it fucking worked, problem is I can't remember the order exactly but Paralysis and Sleep were involved
So Venusaur probably had Stun Spore and Sleep Powder
If it was Sleep -> Paralysis then the likely possibility was that Dragonite woke up, then Venusaur used Stun Spore for Paralysis
If it was Paralysis -> Sleep then somehow, my brother was able to get a Paralyzed Dragonite to fall asleep, which doesn't make any sense, yet the memory of that is still stuck in my head
Like somehow Venusaur forced a Sleep on a Paralyzed foe

I always assumed there was some kind of special physical split as a kid, when it happened in gen 4 I was taken back a bit.
If anyone's interested I just guessed if a move was special or physical based on the name.

I used to think that moves like Growl & Tail Whip would increase or decrease my pokemon’s stats permanently.

Retarded 8 year old me released my Treecko because I thought he’d never be able to land a hit again after missing so much from sand-attacks.

Dual types just confuse me as to what is effective on them in general. I'm constantly googling pokemon to remember what hurts them if they're a dual type.
Dusk Mane Necrozma is the only pokemon I know that has moves that are x1.5 effective on it. It has no x2 effective moves on it. IT also resists nearly everything.

I was completely baffled the first time I used an Electric move vs. Wooper. Genuinely thought it was a bug until I caught one and saw why.
I also thought shinies were a bug. I flipped out in Crystal when I got a shiny Magby from the egg.

I wish shinies were somewhat naturally seeded into trainers.
Not often, but just once in awhile and maybe they say a blurb on it.
Despite having action replays I didn't really know about shinies till Gen 4.

It's just too hidden to where some people can play through literally every game's story and post-game without ever encountering one.
I only ever encountered one in S/M when trying to hatch a shiny. Somehow ran into a shiny Mudbray in the grass.
All my others were hatching/chaining.

Its a glitch, in Gen I, if you use any move that causes Sleep in a foe who are recharging hyperbeam, it has 100% acc and overrrides any other status.

Not sure if it was in stadium too

I thought until recently that Psyduck and Golduck were Water/Psychic types. "Psy" is in the name, Psyduck definitely used Psychic attacks in the anime, they have Psychic attacks in the TCG and games, Golduck has a gem on his forehead that shoots lasers according to the cards, but they are and always have been pure Water types.

I always thought they would eventually give him a Water/Psychic evolution, the same way they gave Horsea a dragon evolution after teasing it in the pokedex. But it just never materialized.
