Over 20 years after it was given out? Not high. Almost all if not all of the original save batteries in those games have died by now. Unless the seller used a cheating device to back up the save before replacing the battery, but how likely that is I don't know.

Probably not unless it was transferred between games, the original save battery for every gen 1 game is probably dead

If you want to keep it for long term, the Stadium games can store Pokemon and use Flash RAM for saving which will last for a long time

My Blue/Yellow games save just fine 20 years later.

It's the GSC ones that died out over a decade ago.

Unlike gen 2 which the battery keep running to maintain the in game time, gen 1 battery only drains when you save. It took millions of save to completely deplete the battery. The natural draining of the battery is very very slow and hardly contribute to the battery draining. My original yellow still works fine.
