Not really, you just need to know where it is. I don't think there's a single regular trainer that has one in Gen 3 (at least in R/S) so most people never even saw one in-game until Gen 4 or 5.

Most of these. A lot of Alola's single stage Pokemon were either version exclusive or not available until late in the game. They aren't even really strong enough to justify it.

There's good fucking reason for that retard. In gen 1 and 2 psychic types were out of fucking control. To counter this they made dark types specifically tailored to wreck Alakazam like Houndoom and Tyranitar. Why the fuck would they give you something that strong before the postgame?

There’s a lot of reasons why Houndour could have been locked to the postgame. To create a sort of mystery on where to get it. Being a last minute addition. Giving you new Pokémon to catch even after you’ve beaten the main game. The Houndoom line in of itself being overpowered is not one of those reasons.

Dark depends on the game. Alola has like 20 Dark type lines. Psychic is a bit more rare on average, but again depends on the game. And yes to Ice since pre-Galar they were basically unable to get until mid-late game, and even then that’s just because it has the Wild Area and there’s a little bit of everything there.

Dragon too, naturally, especially in earlier generations.

It's not as popular but Girafarig was a G/S only mon too. It's especially bad with Mareep because there's really not much you can do with electric types in gen 2 since Tbolt is an expensive tutor move post-E4 at best. Later on 3rd games just used a mix of the other 2 games exclusives.

I appreciate Crystal for having its own version exclusives/exclusions though, because it makes it feel worth owning even having played through one of the paired games. Sure you can get everything but Celebi between Gold and Silver, but when my mom and dad were buying me games, I had to pick one and then when I could get another the third version was out. Compared to say Emerald where I think you can catch literally all 135 Hoenn Pokemon and the majority of the one from Colosseum which really made me feel shafted that I had already played Ruby, Sapphire and Colo to get them all.

Hell, not even grinding. A 30% encounter chance is very generous. I think most people check the grass in every route a few times to see what Pokemon there are, in which case you'd run into it quickly.

I feel so bad for Drampa. Stuck on the last route of the game, and only in the Moon versions. The poor thing is literally the last obtainable non-legendary Gen 7 Pokemon in it's games, later than the fucking Pseudo that's way more useful on a team even at the end of the game.

He’s right you retard, Shroomish is only part of Hoenn’s regional dex and even then it’s only in one location as a rare encounter. Gamefreak neglected it so much it’s never been in any other dex, and is totally left out of the newest games’ code as a result.

Actually, you're incorrect about that. Dusclops and Banette in the wild are version exclusives for Ruby and Sapphire respectively, meaning that which version you have determines which of them appears at Sky Pillar. In a sense, you can also use this as a guide for which game version is more friendly to their pre-evolved forms. In each one's respective game, Duskull or Shuppet can be found on Route 121 and 123 as well.

However, regardless of the version, both Duskull and Shuppet can be acquired at Mt. Pyre. Which game version it is only determines which is common and which is rare.

This suffering is lessened in Sword/Shield, due to raids and the Wild Area really upping the availability of Pokemon. It gets even better with DLC.

That's by no means perfect, but the fact that I can Ice monotype with some confidence is pretty nice.

Sneasel is only available at night at Mt Silver in G/S, how is it possible to use it if you can only catch it right before the final battle?

It's available in HeartGold because that's how it was meant to be. The original western releases of Gold and Silver had Donphan and Ursaring (and their pre-evolutions) swapped by mistake. Donphan was meant to be exclusive to Gold, like in the japanese release.

Max raid battles are a chore especially when getting rare spawns.

There needs to be another form of Wishing Piece that only shits out rare beams.

The only good thing about Wild Area is that all trade evos outside of the Porygon, Magmar and Electabuzz line can be acquired.

Big if true. I feel that would have been a better fit for Kanto, what with all the generic engineering and cloning as a theme. I checked Phanpy’s pokedex entries and none really comment on it being a small elephant (which it is, under 2 feet tall kek) or about genes so who knows
