When the games came out, even though i was like 6, i wanted to see and experience the new pokemon. Use my favourites on my in-game playthrough team, without excessive planning, or grinding. Many of the Johto pokemon are unreasonably awakward, difficult, or impractical to try and use in an regular, in-game playthrough.
trying to pick up a level 20 or so and add to my team in Kanto is a pain, when everything im fighting is level 50+ and ive either dropped a team member, or played through the game with 4 or 5 pokemon, and missed all the fun gym battles etc.
Not just talking about larvitar either. I saw houndour in the pichu special. Oh no, thats too hard get, cant reasonable use him. Even in hgss it's still like this.
