Even today, you want a Melmetal, need to play GO, buy Let's Go, then move one to the other, THEN move it through Home to the newest games, to get the full use of it(and it still needs the Gmax patch).
GO is nothing more than getting adults who "grew out" of core pokémon, but who still have attachment to the wee buggers to give the franchise money and given they're going to link Home to GO and the core games, it's obvious it's going to be another attempt at hooking adults back into biuying core Pokémon. But you can delude yourself however you wish, whatever helps you cope with the kid's franchise ignoring the wants of adults, over continuing what built them into the brand they are today.
Or is that what's pissing you off, you helped them to this position by screaming for everything with Pokémon slapped on the side as a kid that when you grew up, you expected them to always cater to you, the "dedicated" fan?
