>>44632870I have played sword, and I have played ruby and sapphire too. In ruby and sapphire, not all pokemon could be in the game because of hardware issues. This caused alot of people to rag on the games. Though those games were fun, as most people put pokemon emerald as one of the best pokemon games, however for the most part it was just pokemon ruby and sapphire with support for past pokemon.
Sword however is not a good game. Not even close to ruby and sapphire's standards. For one they "planned" to not have all pokemon in the game, I call that bull crap from word go as evidenced by their willingness to add some back with DLC.
They got rid of certain forms (mega evolutions) because they thought they were too hard to implement for all pokemon? Which broke continuity, these forms have existed for 2 generations. You made them, keep them. Not to mention story is rehashing of sun and moon "Oh no, person who is trusted leader of the good guys is actually the leader of the bad guys all along!" The only really new thing is the wild area, and it isn't really totally new. Check out Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 Hidden Grottoes, and then you pretty much realize the wild area is lots of Hidden Grottoes just laced everywhere. The story, and even mechanics such has "lets just make everything bigger" and "Hidden Grottoes" could all be forgiven and forgotten if the game play was spectacular, it wasn't. This was a rushed game, pure and simple. It didn't have to be rushed, they could have taken their time. They either deliver on a polished game next time or I won't even bother trying to play it. That isn't to say I bought it, I didn't. A friend of mine gave me his for free so I didn't have to spend the money.
