People found out if you get down to 1 pokemon in Cianwood a man will give you a Tentacool
It isn't restricted to one time either so if you release either the Tentacool or your other pokemon he will keep giving you more squids

The game doesn't let you release your last pokemon with surf

Correct me if i'm wrong but the only way to get it legitimately would be to trade your last surfer with someone directly (since i seem to recall GTS doesn't allow HMs)

They did this because in DPP you could get softlocked in the post game.

A softlock may still be possible in Cinnabar though, has anyone checked it out yet?

I love how the final battle of swsh can be softlocked with a known method that tcpi was aware of (see gen 5 and oras) yet you can't get softlocked in a game made 11 years ago.

isn't this only possible with save editing, as the final box only unlocks when you catch eternatus (which is the same method they use in gen 6 and 7)

But you are softlocked if you're dumb enough to strand yourself on a island with a pokemon that only knows teleport. That goes for Cianwood in g/s/c or Dewford.

isn't this not a softlock anyway since the abra can struggle? then, if you had the old rod or you could encounter wild pokemon (i'm not familiar with that area) you could level him up until he evolved and learned confusion.

Use teleport with only a teleport/dig pokemon that cant learn surf in the party and no other Pokemon in boxes. Make sure your last visited PC was in Cianwood.

You can get to the Safari zone without using any HM

Plus have no fishing rod so you can black out

It's what that anon said, you only get access to 31 boxes while playing and it only unlocks early for Eternatus, the freak out happened because people accessed a box you're not able too. It's why the complaints about it stopped too since it was pretty disingenuous since it was found through save editing and there's plenty of other things to legit complain about

This isn't something that would break a soft lock, but it is neat. After getting the pokenav, if you teleport to Petalberg before leaving Rustboro, your rival will be leaving Mr Brineys house so you can get their number
