When did they say this? I keep seeing this quote, but I only remember them actually saying that they cut Pokemon to improve animations (which was also a lie but that's neither here nor there).
Did they ever actually say they cut Pokemon for balance, or is that just a lie made up by shills to justify it?

In gens 6 and 7, Aegislash had the offenses of Rayquaza and the defenses of Registeel.
In gen 8, Aegislash's offenses and defenses were nerfed by ten (10) entire points. But ifs offenses are still better than Pheromosa, and its bulk is better than Toxapex.
Aegislash dropped is because the meta isn't kind to it. Excadrill, Mandibuzz, Urshifu-Single, and fire types in general clown on it.

And Mimikyu is still ridiculous even without focus sash. It just went from broken to obscenely good, and Gamefreak at least knows well enough to nerf mons that people bitch enough about (like Talonflame).

The dex cut happened solely because they didn't give themselves enough time to port over all the models. It might happen again though now that they know they can use 'bringing back pokemon' as a DLC selling point.

And because it's so fucking slow, it can attack after taking a hit in its bulkier-than-Toxapex form and use a priority move to get that bulk back.

200 mons being added gets more people excited than 3 mons being added. And it's not like they could make 200 new mons. They never made that many mons in a single gen even back when they actually gave a fuck.
So instead, they withhold 200 old mons to sell back to us at a later date. Or better yet, withhold 400 old mons so the possibility of more DLC is still open.

The fact that you think I'm never gonna break the "attack, king's shield, attack, king's shield" rhythm just shows how predictable you are.
