This brings up the question, why are they back?

When they were cut from SwSh, I assumed it was a franchise wide change to move on from megas and leave them as that gen 6 thing. I expected it to happen at some point anyways, since SM didn't add new ones.

But then Mystery Dungeon had them back, and the they had a spotlight on the anime and now this, so why only SwSh cut them? Was it actually because they wanted to have nothing to take attention from Dynamax? Was it because they couldn't figure out a way to Dynamax megas since Dynamax doesn't use items? Just because they felt like it?

I just don't get it

The things getting Megas all rely on the old designs notably, either remakes or freemium games where they absolutely need to add new content but can't make any new species.

It's a marketing ploy. They cut megas from SWSH and now in DP remakes or even gen 9 they can bring them back and act like it's this big thing everyone has been waiting for with a whole lot of fanfare and some new megas for old mons. It's both brilliant and retarded at the same time but it mostly just let's them be lazy and get out of designing a new mechanic for a whole gen.

because go is moving to gen 6 the same way it moved to 5, 4, 3, and 2.

You know GO adding Megas guarantees they'll add Gigantamax forms in time? I mean, they used a single-battle form change and kept how it operated in relation to their game, no reason why they wouldn't do it again woth Gmax in 2 years time.
