Chuck uses two Pokemon at very high levels relative to you. Between confusion and sleep spam the battle is pretty balanced for that point in the game. Sure a Machoke or Machop would have helped but there's no reason that he should use the fucking team you gave him.

Again, Beedrill would have been better but Metapod and Kakuna are high level and likely to inflict poison. If you didn't pick Cyndaquil it's a hard battle because your Pidgey/Hoothoot can't do shit for EXP in Union Cave.

Misdreavus is extremely rare and found only in Mt. Silver in G/S. What difference would it have made? It's got no weaknesses you can exploit besides ghost, but it's also not very good statistically.

That's kinda their theme. Gym Leaders in the olden days used themed teams. Just throwing whatever you want into their team beats the purpose of their theming and just turns them into regular trainer battles. Try to actually think.

Hello casual, rather than slapping on a bunch of dragonairs, those pokemom in clair's team have some thematic connection to dragons. Its not ideal but there are almost no dragon types between Gen 1 and 2

Doduo doesn't make much sense for Falkner. Give him Pidgeotto back.
Bugsy needs an actual Johto-mon on his team. I'd say cut Venonat and Paras for Ledian and Ariados.
Whitney is fine, I like adding Togetic.
Morty is all right, personally I'd cut Umbreon for Haunter, but I can understand why you'd use Umbroen.
WTF is going on with Chuck? Either way, I'd swap out Nidorino for Hitmontop.
Jasmine is fine
Pryce is fine, although Mamoswine and Weavile didn't exist yet and Sneasel was sort of bad back then. I think you actually made him weaker?
Claire is kind of cool, but I'd suggest cutting Arbok for Gyarados.
Will is fine, although once Exeggutor and Xatu are dead his whole team dies to Meganium using Leech Seed. Personally, I'd cut Mr. Mime for Jynx.
Koga NEEDS his Forrestress back, using Spikes was one of his gimmicks and Forretress was the only pokemon that learned it back then. I'd cut Victreebell for Forrestress.
Bruno is all right, but I'd dump Pinsir and give him Steelix back.
I like giving Karen Tyranitar, but I dislike all the other changes to her. Also, Honchkrow and Weavile didn't exist yet, those are gen-4 pokemon. I think Vileplume and Gengar fit her better than Scizor and Sneasel.
