Furthermore, other game companies who are genuinely invested in their game becoming part of the e-sports shebang usually deliver patches, actual changes to the fighters to accomodate for changes in the 'meta', and carefully consider balance both in and out of campaign. Gamefreak doesn't give a single flying fuck. It's a game made for kids.
