>>44665514Apparently, because some people can't comprehend that difficulty is relative based on who is playing the game.
Difficulty is also nullified if you know exactly what to do in order to overcome a point in the game.
Speedrunning is the epitome of this concept. It boils down to beating X game as fast as possible using Y means under Z conditions.
However, I and many other people, do not speedrun games. I play
ed Pokemon games. I did it in the past because it was fun.
Now that I'm older and understand how the games works mechanically, I want to experience a Pokemon game that's actually somewhat difficult, because that's fun to me.
>>44665571Let me rephrase myself, then.
I agree that the way they implemented it was absolutely fucking ass-backwards and idiotic
from the standpoint that basic features in video games, such as difficulty, should be available from the start, especially in games with only one save file. But then again, what should I expect from a developer that put volume options behind a key item from a random NPC in a 2019 game.
>>44665619>>44665704I don't want to play online, because difficult AI are are usually harder to predict than humans.
If my online opponent throws out a Toxapex or a Ferrothorn, I think I have a pretty good idea of what they're going to try to do with it.
But in the games, if an AI Trainer throws out a Ferrothorn it might actually be creative for once and try to sweep me with something like Banded Power Whip under Trick Room or something.
AI can keep you on your toes, humans follow a meta and are predictable.
If I wanted to shorten my lifespan, I would play online.
If I wanted to actually enjoy my time spent doing something I'd
stop spitting out (You)'s and go play a difficulty hack since GF is so incompetent they can't spend one day implementing a basic feature just for the hell of it because it doesn't directly increase the amount of yen in their bank account.
