Remember that you can hit with any attack not a ghost type pokémon, but the literal ghost of a Marowak in Pokémon Red/Blue.

I always wanted a Ghost-type mon that was immune to moves that made physical contact. You could give it shit stats / movepool if the ability was too busted.

ghost-type pokemon are not ghosts. the marowak in the pokemon tower in lavender town is a ghost. this ghost is immune to all attacks, physical or special, and cannot be caught by pokeballs. there is a difference. note also, that this entity, which is an actual ghost, retains the marowak's ground-typing and does not take on the ghost-type.

Not all ghost type pokémon are, well, ghost, Alola Marowak and Decidueye are ghost type because they possess spiritual powers, and Giratina is ghost type because... huh

But Pokémon like Cursola, Spiritomb and Dragapult are either real ghosts or undead.

It's true that they aren't ghosts. They're just creatures with ghost-like attributes. ACTUAL undead ghosts are completely incorporeal and can't interact with the living world in any physical way.

The Ghost Marowak in Gen 1 was the same. None of your attacks worked on it, but it also couldn't hit you.
