I’m sure you already realize this, but that image is bogus. The “platinum” sprites are just the second frame sprites used in the animations. They use the sprites from Diamond and Pearl (which had static non animated sprites) as the first and final frames, save for a number of Pokémon that received new poses altogether.

Platinum has animated sprites just like Emerald did while RS and DP didn't. Did you even play the game?
Bulbapedo is using a single frame of the animated sprite.

The sprites are only animated for half a second then they sit in the static poses OP posted for the remained of the battle.

The Quagsire sprite looks far better in Platinum. Richer colors, more character, more dynamic pose. You could argue that the perspective is flawed and it's off-model, but it's a much more interesting sprite.

Gen 4 brought so much great innovation to the series but god damn do they look awful in basically every regard.
Really everything after gen 4 is questionable in some way. For example the 3D models of 6+ have always been abortions.
