Coalossal and Urshifu are still in. People will just use Sneasel instead of Dragapult. Lapras and Porygon-Z didnt lose almost anything. Sun is dead though and „balance” will need to be redefined (probably defaulting to Corviknight/Arca/Gastro core).

Tbh i dont feel like putting much effort in this format while CT is right around the corner.

In my experience watching & playing games on Showdown, Lapras is seeing a ton of play along with Dusclops and they'll prob see the most usage. Tsareena and Gigalith have also picked up. Being a Hyper Offense Chad myself I've chosen to run rain to start the format as well.

Snipe Shot can not be re-directed and is a guaranteed crit after FE.
Hydrosnipe is 160 base power off the rip on top of ignoring abilities.

I was listing the positives that Sniper Intelleon has over Sniper Kingdra, which is what i'm assuming anon meant when bringing Kingdra to an Intelleon conversation.

Okay so I got around to messing with Inteleon+Talonflame as a lead and came up with a core of Intel,Krook,Talonflame,and Tox. Ignore Porygon and Clef bc they're just filler mons. I've only played about 5 games so far but Tox's Overdrive is very nice and Inteleon does solid work as well though idk if I should stay Modest to maximize damage output. I should probably add another mon that I can use against trick room teams. Any tips? I'll keep playing & working on game plans against key matchups as I become more familiar with this format. I want to make an actual effort to improve as a player this Season and hopefully have that carry on into Crown tundra.

Considering there are no real life events to attend, I'm the same way. I switched Arcanine for Incineroar on my team and called it a day. It doesn't play quite the same, but it's "close enough."

Trying to get good this season. It helped realizing they'd actually implemented quality of life features mid game in VGC similar to how smogon displays shit.

Just a generic Life Orb attacker, unfortunately Jolteon’s movepool is pretty shit so people were running stuff like Mud Slap for coverage and SpDef boost. That said with Dragapult banned his speed tier is pretty much uncontested right now, so he sounds like a pretty good option.

I feel so fucking stupid playing this game anons and I hate it.

I was top 500 a few seasons ago but more and more I'm starting to think its pure luck. I finished last season at 30k and now I've gone 0-5 to start the new season with a solid rental team I've seen other players use effectively.

Nothing I do works. Every lead I pick loses to whatever random bullshit once in a lifetime gimmick my opponent brings, if there's luck to be had then my opponent always gets it (like missing a necessary High Horsepower to close out a game, 5% chance to happen but hey fuck me I guess), even when I seem to call every turn correctly - ie. when even on reflection, knowing what they were going to do that turn, I still can't see any other move i could have gone for to create a better board position - i just seem to get outlasted and pinned.

Its like regardless of what I bring or what I choose my opponent can just outdamage, outlast and outmanoeuvre me every step of the way. It is driving me absolutely insane.

I watch top players, I study how they make decisions, i play their teams and i still cannot string fucking wins together.

How? How do I get better at this game? I feel like there's no opportunity to actually learn because each opponent does stuff so wildly different and off the wall that there aren't any lessons applicable from one match to the next. I need help badly but I have no fucking idea where to get it.

You're just going through a slump anon. Even the very best players will go on losing streaks and feel out of sorts which can understandably lead to frustration. If you don't do so already talk yourself through your games and review them after you finish playing to see what you could've done better.

I don't think its a slump, 30k is an absolute trash tier ranking and shows that im just getting things wrong over and over. I don't know what things I'm doing wrong though because, like I said, every match its something different. I typically feel like I lead pretty well (as well as you can lead without being psychic anyway) but then my opponent either has some asspull strategy that only works once (which is all they need in a Bo1 obviously) OR everything I do just seems like water off a duck's back even when the lead matchup is in my favour, somehow they just manoeuvre their way into a better position and I can't stop them.

It's hard to help specific flaws in someone's play without seeing them play, too bad there's no battle videos in this game, I would gladly analyze them. If you can't get out of a bad streak then I'd try a new/edited team to refresh your mindset.

I think he’s too frail and slow to work. Telepathy Pokemon are good partners but there is a very limited pool of them in the game to begin with. Medicham used to be one of its best partners but its not even in the game now.

tl;dr just use Porygon-Z

Its begging for better speed control options for starters, dropping the janky ass Grimm+Duraludon combo with a Trick Room core with Dusclops and replacing Amoonguss with Ferro or Corviknight would probably do wonders here. Overdrive is a very good spread move that ignores Lightning Rod, especially combined with Punk Rock. Slap a scarf on Tox and that puts it into a decent speed tier that can be bumped up with Tailwind and Max Airstream, it has a good Gmax move and Poison typing is also good to shit on fairies.

From what I've seen the last week (since people were mostly dicking around in Masters with self imposed restrictions), Toxicitry either runs scarf to put pressure on Lapras/Comfey or any other similar leads that are susceptible to redirection...

...or it runs Air Balloon/Life Orb/Sash to get off a Shift Gear to do some massive damage the following turn. The reason I bother Reflect Typing though is an annoying oddly built one I fought that just went out of its way to inflict status on my entire team.

I originally ran Lead Blade because of that, but switched to Feint for the utility. As for running Focus Energy, you're basically taking one turn to guarantee crits for the rest of the game, whereas if you just open with Max Knuckle, you get +1 attack immediately. Both give +50% damage, one gives the utility of that damage also ignoring drops, the other gives the utility of having up front damage. I prefer the up front damage.

They’re forced into making a defensive play instead of going for the WP Coalossal sweep, I’d say you still come up on top. You should probably have PZ+Clef in the back in that case so you can hard switch into either and attempt a sweep later on, and cleaning up with Vish once Gastro is gone.

I need a competitive spAing pokemon but i already have my water quota so Milotic wouldn't fit. It just occurred to me, there is a reason why GF has given electric terrian jack shit compared to other terrains. Once the Tapus come out, I think they wanted to level the playing field so Koko doesn't just destroy everything, especially once it comes in the game and has Rising Voltage.

I think because the state of Urshifu is set at evolution that it should have unique icons akin to the Rotoms, Arceus and Silvally have a singular icon because they change type through ability and item and I think it's so variable, especially on something as competitively viable, that it seems a tad unfair.
Now I use context clues to guess what Urshifu it is; if they are using Coalossal for example I wager it's rapid, if they have a team with Water Pokemon already I safely assume it's dark unless the team is specifically a rain team, but even then these educated guesses are not always right.

Found out two pretty interesting things today:

If you're holding a life orb and target someone with Magic Guard, you don't take damage from the attack.

Weird one: if you go for the encore/disable strat on a Pokemon there's a weird caveat. Order apparently doesn't matter but a Pokemon has to be inflicted with one of the two (not both) and Dynamax the following turn. Under these weirdly specific circumstances, it will still be able to fire off one Max Move but be locked in Struggle for the rest of the fight.

I personally use Terrakion + Cobalion.
I taunt Clefairy with Terrakion while I max airstreak with Cobalion. Then I close combat Porygon-Z next turn with Terrakion.
Works with Amoongus too.
Against Talonflame I don't even need to max Cobalion.

They're not all good for the same reason.
Rillaboom has the strongest priority in the game and an Incineroar-lite support movepool.
Venusaur wrecks shit whenever the sun is up.
Amoonguss and Whimsicott are also god-tier support.
I think part of what makes Grass-types so good is that they're unique in what they do and therefore can't be powercrept. They're evergreen, if you will.

The type depends entirley on your team and what you're trying to do, both work really well.
I personally run a Jolly Sashed one but that's because he's used to proct Anger Point and I don't want that interrupted. That said even when not using it like that scarf works amazingly with Urshifu, as long as you use your critting move no amount of attack drops will ever matter and you can just braindead click Surging Strike/ Wicked Blow all day long.

Both are good. Water bear benefits from rain which is super common in the current ruleset but gets cucked by Amoonguss and dark bear smashes Dusclops which is delicious but dies to fairies and water bears. Try to get both.

Go for it m8. I was running hail with sandslash and g-toise last season, and I didn't do so bad there (only top 1k), though it kinda ran purely on the hardest of reads. If they have a fire move they're going to use it on Beartic not Snorlax.
Also there aren't many dangerous physical fire moves, the strongest one right now is probably fire blitz from Arcanine, which is a support pokémon most of the time. For every match Thick Fat actually helps you out there will be 10 matches in which you wished you had Glutton instead.
Also I suggest using Swift Swim Beartic over Slush Rush, this way you'll have rain to mitigate fire damage.

Gastroacid on a slow pokémon like Snorlax to save Beartic is kinda wasted too. You'll be forced to protect Beartic that turn, a pokémon that usually needs to do as much as possible while Dynamaxed. Then again looking it up Snorlax does seem to be the best user of that move since everything else is kinda crappy.

The boring answer is just Dusclops setting up Trick Room and baiting it into expecting Ally Switch.

Weezing with neutralizing gas to stop the friend guard or adaptability boost,
Gastro Acid on either of them (which I only just found out affects DMax mons despite no other ability shifting move does), Mental Herb + Unburden Hawlucha to ignore the Follow Me... Going for the Spore with an Amoongus to cripple either of them is pointless since Z always answers with an electric terrain if Amoongus is on the field.

You can use them fine online. I'd be hesitant to bring them to an in person tournament, as the OT data does show it came from OaksLab. Maybe just use them as the parents to breed a 100% legitimate Pokemon if/when in person VGC starts back up again.

you could have just double upped the trick roomer with 2 reliable moves anyway and win but you took the greedy gamble, you can't blame the game on this even though yes 9/10 times that strat will work for you but there was a way for you to guarantee victory or a huge advantage that game but you greeded it

no, the first turn was bad but it wasn't game over. however i literally never moved again in the game because of gmax smite, my pokemon didnt snap out and whichever ones were still alive hit themselves two turns in a row

That's one of the big downsides of 4v4 doubles. The battles are short which is why TPCi decided to make it the official format in the first place and every turn ends up mattering way more.
In a 6v6 format, you have more time to recover from a lot of bad luck. Although that comes at the cost of endless stallfests.

If you really want to run Dhelmise you can use Hatterene with Brutal Swing as your Trick Room setter. It's kinda risky as a setter to be honest but I think it's your best bet. You could try giving it max hp and max defense, and then a berry to remove the ghost weakness or a sitrus, you'd need to test and see what looks better for you.

Personally instead of trying to find a dark type I'd build the rest of the team as a rain team. Ghost moves aren't that prevalent right now and Primarina would help you deal with both types of Urshifu.
