So why have the Pokemon games gotten to a point where we need a shitty new gimmick each gen? I feel like Pokemon is having a Digimon style identity crisis where it feels like it needs to constantly add shit for no reason. I didn't particularly care for megas, z-moves, or dynamax, but any of them could have been decent additions if Gamefreak had kept building on and improving them. Instead we keep getting surface level shit that will be thrown out immediately, so it's hard to care about them. And it honestly feels like GF is already struggling to create new gimmicks since gigantamax is just another form changing gimmick like megas. What's next? Fusions? Armor? There is so much shit in these games that need improvement, but instead Gamefreak is wasting resources on shit that will be forgotten about once the new games come out.
