How? Why? I only boot up gen 6 for the occasional chaining or box management for things I want.
Why is the online for Gen 6 so active?

Anyone who's actually played SWSH knows the online is shit. That's because online isn't the main draw of the game, though. Max Raid battles are a great feature but no one ever cares to do them online because they're meant to be done with FRIENDS.

Try to join a raid in Gen 8 compared to doing any online activity in Gen 6. You can't compare them just because of the online service because Nintendo hands those deals out like candy.
I literally CANNOT join raids in SWSH, the only time I ever get close is by turning on and off the Y-COMM.

5 minute cutscenes where you pick a SE attack then mash A, and any more complex strategy is less effective than spamming attacks (if not completely arbitrarily nullified) and makes the battle take longer, truly a great feature.

Online raids have lost a lot of their purpose after the DLC giving Gmax soup, and events have been shit ever since. What's most important is battling and trading, which is active.

I liked it better than the Gen 6 online because it's a lot swifter. It takes ages to open Wonder Trade and GtS in Gen 6. Not to mention that it makes you save before you open it every time.

XY is fucking dead. It's a million times faster to do literally anything online in SWSH. The GTS in particular is way better now without all of the shitty bloat gen 6 had.

You mean Alola, Gen 6 will forever be remembered as peak community and at least the barebones standard of Pokemon Games.
Alola can't even say it's the best 3D on-rails Pokemon game because at least SWSH is short enough to make the interruptions bearable.
