You have to comply to the meme themes people have made up for previous starters.

First set, theme: RPG classes
Grass Starter: Grass/Fairy Druid Deer
Fire Starter: Fire/Ghost Bandit Rabbit
Water Starter: Water/Fighting Gladiator/Brawler Snail

Second set, Theme: Dancing
>Grass Starter: Grass/Fighting tribal MMA Fighter Procoptodon Kangaroo
It's style of dancing is war/tribal dancing.
>Fire Starter: Fire/Psychic Naga Snake. It's style of dancing is chanting and obviously snake charming.
>Water Starter: Water/Ghost Black Swan. It's style of dancing is ballet.

Third Set, Theme: Movie Monsters
>Grass Starter: Grass type Mystacina miocenalis or Giant Walking Bat. It's Dracula.
>Fire Starter: Fire/Dark Horse based on the Tikbalang. It's the Headless Horseman.
>Water Starter: Water/Steel Swamp Monkey. Last stage is the creature from the Black Lagoon.

Fourth set, Theme: Anime Genres
Grass Starter: Grass/Steel Beetle is theme is Mecha Anime
Fire Starter: Fire/Fighting Bearded Dragon that evolves into a Deagon it's theme is Shonen Anime

Grass/Fighting type Haast’s eagle. Personality/theme is like a sassy punk type, has spikes on it and big red eyes with yellow sclera. Has a ponytail of leaves so people think it’s the girl one.

Fire/Ground type goatman. Trains in volcanoes and is themed around being a fitness coach or something- it coaches younger pokemon. Not a fighting type but it looks like one, much like Incineroar/Cinderace.

Water/Poison type newt. A wizened crone that brews potions out of its own venom. Has a big lilypad it wears like a witch’s hat. Lays curses on outsiders and learns a lot of ghost/psychic moves.

The “common theme” is maturity. The eagle is child/teen, goat an adult, and the newt an old hag.

Also the Grass one is the shillmon. Has an ability called “Apex” which is a protean clone. Other two get Guts and Magic Bounce for their HAs I guess.

Australia region (these are a little outdated, made them years ago)

Grass: Echidna->Pangolin->Doedicurus
Pinecone theme, Grass/Steel

Fire: Rabbit/Shrew (yes, Scorbunny exists now, didn't at the time) -> Jackalope
Antlers are flaming sticks caught in its fur, Fire/Fairy

Water: Platypus -> Dart Thrower
Follows the weapon/semi-aquatic themes, Water/Poison

They also create an interesting type triangle.

Fire/Water Alpaca [because given the Cyndaquil and Fennekin lines, Zodiacfags will push anything into the slot] with a steam cloud/boiler motif
