I feel like maybe they wanted to give Diantha a team full of fairy types, but pulled out at the last minute.

So make her a Fairy version of Steven OR give her a team of six pokemon that relate to being an actress.

I think you could get a stronger team for Diantha out of the nobility theme rather than movies. She does have the "Grand Duchess" title and has a regal style. Maybe something like:
