None of us are cheering for a western game. We don't play those.
Our only hope is Yokai watch and Digimon.

I haven't really looked into this all that deeply, but just watching the trailer, this looks like a game that has a lot of potential to be an interesting new monster taming game, except for the parts that are really obviously based on Pokemon. The best way to compete with Pokemon isn't to be "Pokemon but different," but to actually just be a different game in the same genre.

I hate how every time a monster game is made it's automatically compared to Pokemon or hoisted as "the Pokemon killer".

I feel like it makes a game automatically dead in the water and prevents mon-rpgs from being it's own genre.

Digimon is suffering from the same problem Pokemon is, though.
They're shilling Adventures over and over while the good concepts that Adventures 02 brought are just as cucked and retconned as Johto.

Monster collecting games will never succeed until they realize that the only to be successful is to be unique, you can't succeed by copying something else.

Calling something a "Pokemon Killer" is ridiculous, I don't know why people did that with TemTem some time ago. Pokemon literary is one of the biggest franchises in all of media. Even if a game that is similar to Pokemon is a success, it still pales in comparison to Pokemon, money wise. You cannot kill Pokemon, unless you somehow create a brand equally as big, and good luck with that.
