Haven't had a DS to play pokemon for almost 5 years and finally got my hand on one again. I left all my Pokemon in the poke bank and obviously my subscription lapsed in that time. What are the odds my Pokemon are still there?

Your mons are still stored and safe anon. I stop paying the subscription at the end of Gen 6 and all my pokemon were still there when they gave the free month during the launch of Home.

It's not really too big of a loss. Sure, I sunk tons of hours into those games, but I can do it again. I just have to get a hold of Diamond/Pearl since this is the only two I don't have anymore and then sun/moon since those are the only ones I never got for the DS. One step at a time though

On one hand, yeah, there's 0 reason Bank has to be online. The only thing it requires the Internet for is connecting to the switch(which could be done in other ways but I'd understand nintendo not paying that much attention to this specific app).

On the other, they give you a year and you have plenty of space offline as it is, so if you lose them you clearly didn't care much.

Home is the true hostage service.
