Her background from a young age was in musical theater, where she had better acting roles than anything she had working with Nickelodeon. Her voice is actually really good. The problem is really the same as we've seen countless times with child actors: they grow up. And when they grow up, they either get tossed aside because no one wants to use them anymore, or they try to hard to break the image that they had to seem more adult that they tank their careers putting too much edge on a pop career where everything is overproduced to hell.
It's not that Ariana is a bad performer, it's that repeated a common industry mistake and sold out.
