It just doesn't give the same amount of exploration gen 6 and below did. It would be one thing if the interruptions were short and introductory if anything, but it persists through the whole game and never gives you any big "stretch of freedom" like Kalos did after Laverre or any of the other games beyond the first two gyms.
Also, the corners cut really start to be noticeable after Circhester where the last two gyms don't even really have trials and you literally teleport between them in short succession with no exploration in between.
The DLC is basically what the whole campaign should have been, which is unfortunate because all of the resources are there. They just made the "creative decision" to railroad you through every somewhat decent thing the game has to offer.

I fell asleep multiple times playing s/m it was so fucking boring id pass out. Didnt happen with shield games still shitty but i enjoyed it more. streamlined the process of making legit battlemons which i highly appreciated

Absolutely. The game runs at a beautiful 60fps/1080p and allows you to catch all of the old and current mons as well as providing a giant region to explore every nook and cranny of while also providing the best story ever seen in a Pokemon game. And it's also worth noting that the story mode provides a strong challenge for both kids and adults. Truly the best pokemon game ever created. It deserved to outsell every previous generation.

Well, they are at least better than Sun/Moon.
They don't have nearly as much intrusive cutscenes and it lets you fuck around alone a lot.
Their online is much better, though it's not hard to beat the "festival plaza" bullshit.

Absolutely. It's a return to the gym system with a bit of a twist like a league tournament similar to the anime instead of having the Elite 4, then you fight the champion.

Yeah I’m playing usum for the first time, after spamming swoosh, and was immediately struck by how intrusive the cutscenes are. I don’t know how anyone can claim sw/sh is worse than that.

Consider SwSh Pokemon Stadium with an adventure mode, because the game mostly shines from being just a 3D Pokemon game with multiplayer features, that's about it. The short-lived single player experience feels like it's lacking substance that makes it comparable to mainline titles from the past and the single player battles provides little challenge as you can almost clear the entire story just by using your starter Pokemon alone. If you're going in for the multiplayer and competitive environment, you might enjoy yourself with it but if you don't plan to go online, you might find yourself disappointed if you go in with high expectations.

That's funny, I'm also playing USUM for the first time. Started a few days ago, and am right at the entrance of Route 2. The fucking cutscenes burned me out.
What's specially annoying are the pointless ones. Hau walking away, then turning around just to wave, and THEN walk away. Or how the Rotom Dex has to quip after every catch and every time I encounter a new mon.

Vanilla Sun and Moon has more Pokemon, Megas, Z-Moves, and a postgame at launch, that while still awful, not as awful as Sword and Shield’s postgame. USUM has more postgame content for its price than the $30 DLC and is longer. Also, no PokePelago in SwSh.

You mean Sword and Shield was not enjoyable. At least Sun and Moon was interesting the first time. Sword and Shield is a really pathetic, boring single player experience for any video game. All it has going on for itself is the online, which I stopped caring about once they cut Megas and Z-Moves.

I brought shield but it's gonna be the last pokemon game I spend money on. I've played red, yellow, leaf green, silver, heart gold, crystal, ruby, omega ruby, emerald, diamond, platinum, black 1, white 2, y, moon and ultra moon.

That's wrong.
It only came out 1 year after Sun/Moon. It should have been cheap DLC (considering it didn't add much) and was $40. Sword and Shield + Isle of Armor alone has more content than Ultra Sun.

Wrong. How do you even think this? They both have the same exact post game:
