Pokemon wasn't popularized again with normalfags until Pokemon Go/the Nintendo Switch, so now they'll eat up anything from Gen 8 and beyond despite those same people having ignored everything from Gen 3 (Gen 2 if a genwunner) to Gen 7. Gen 5 was the peak of Pokemon hate with normalfags, so they shat on everything about it, especially Vanilluxe, despite not having the grounds to do so.
Basically, they only like something when everyone else likes it, such is the case with Appletun, Alcremie, and Gen 8 as a whole. Slurpuff was overlooked as a foodmon not because it was appreciated, but because people were mostly disinterested in it. Alcremie also has waifufag support on its side. Vanilluxe doesn't have any of those benefits.
