this seems to be a matter of the initial lead flute instrument being incorrectly replicated. either it's a matter of speedy fm choosing the wrong instrument, or it's a matter of the game doubling up on both a sample and a 50% square waveform from the gameboy itself.
if it's the latter, this isn't feasible to replicate with the original sound modules alone, as the sound channels borrowed from the original gameboy are synthesised on the go - in other words, you would need the original sound modules for anything sampled, and a gameboy or gameboy advance for whatever it's creating on the fly. you'd also need to do this for tracks like the frontier brain, as i'm fairly certain that uses the noise channel for its hihats rather than samples
