In order to get gen 1 and 2 sprites to work with the colored squares white them all out and then use the paintbucket tool to refill the squares after you've placed the sprite in

Yes it's autism but it's cathartic to go through the dex with a fine tooth comb and really examine what your favorites are, highly recommend spending the couple of hours of your day

I wouldn't necessarily say they're strong favorites but I'm not a filthy consoomer and haven't bought gen 8 so truthfully I have as much attachment to them as I do any Pokemon in that row

Think "favorite dual type that has your least favorite type" or "least favorite pokemon that got a previous gen's legendary's signature move in this gen"
