objectively yeah, because it increases the skill ceiling of competitive battles and doesn't make the game more unbalanced like megashit does.

it also helps that the gigantamax forms are also balanced and thoughtful in terms of design and gameplay instead of "durrr let's make these shillmons broken"

Blastoise is shit either way.
Ampharos is based. How dare you even try and make it look any less majestic than it is. Pikachu is ok.
The Snorlax explanation makes no sense, but Abomasnow is kinda terrible anyways.
Lucario's mega is an improvement on its' otherwise shit design, and Urshifu is awful at best.
Sandaconda is nice, too bad it's an underwhelming mon. Tyranitar is overrated. So is Garchamp, but Duraludon is an abomination on its own and nothing can fix it.
Putting Rillaboom under anything other than "utter shit" is sanctionable.
Mawile's mega design is great, but so is gigantamax Alcremie.
Gigantamax Gengar is pretty bad. I'm surprised you even tried to make it look good. Mega Gengar is alright and it fits with its new ability. Guess you didn't even want to try though.

No It doesn't it's a shitty mechanic that further pushes the imbalance in the game. Once the opponent uses their dynamax you are pretty much forced to use yours or have a ditto or risk them completely snowballing the match out of control. It is by far the shittiest gimmick GF has introduced.

every single use of dynamax plays out one of three ways and i have never seen anything else done with it. Its a set up for sweep, a mid game sweep or a desperate plee to prolong a battle and turn a loss into a win. also don't reply to your own post anon.

Hot take: You could take Gmax designs, make them smaller and call it the Mega design. You could do the same, scale a mega up and call it a gmax. Gmaxes are literally GF's take 2 at the super evo game.

Now if you want to open the can of worms regarding competitive viability, you really have to take into account singles versus doubles. In singles having a super fast Pokemon who's typically frail now surviving a hit to get multiple boosts off such as attacks, speed, weather, or terrain not only wins it an otherwise lost cause. This then creates a snowball effect that lets the Pokeon pick off another or two more than it would have otherwise. In doubles it's a whole other ballgame. I am of the notion it is the best mechanic for the VGC scene yet. Because of how liberal selecting who to max in a game is, it's constant threat requiring knowledge and prediction of any possible combination. Yes it invalidates a handful of mechanics, while flinch is acceptable and I can understand why certain statuses do not work on them it still stands to question why they thought having weight based moves fail was a good idea. Even then, the combos and synergy this creates even more of a 4-d chess kind of vibe.

The massive majority of GMax designs are only fun because they are gigantic though. Even Machamp, who is the least 'needs to be big' of the bunch, kind of loses the Ultraman flair when it's not gigantic. The proportions on stuff like Lapras and Gengar and etc. are also less fun whe nthey're not fuck-huge

No, you can't. If you actually think this then you're an absolute retard who doesn't understand anything about character design. Alcremie for instance would look like an absolute overdesigned cluttered mess if it were downsized to a regular sized Pokemon.

The biggest issue i have with maxing is that ypu generally cant get Gigantimax pokemon playing normally the way you get megas or z-moves. I really hate that, honestly.
That said, it is a cool mechanic, and i like most gmax designs
