Secondly the characters are usually half way intelligent. They actually think things out and plan compared which is a pleasant surprise, shit feels like a jojo fight because of it.
The "power of friendship" bullshit actually makes sense and is applied great in the manga. For example pokemon picking up on the trainers plans without having to fully explain them because of said bond, most shonen usually just talk about friendship and give everyone some kind of ki power up.
It's a top tier shonen manga, with or without the franchise bonus.
