It can have light voice acting. Like during battles when you and an opposing trainer send out your Pokemon, or when a certain character interacts with you during cutscenes, they'll greet you or express themselves in a word or two without fully voicing their entire scripted dialogue.

NPC's should only say things like "hey!" or "huh?" or something like a giggle when interacting with them.
Full voiced dialogue should be only for important cutscenes.

I think keeping TPCi's pet voice actors as far away from the games as possible is the way to go. You retards forget they aren't going to spend significant money on quality voice talent, so why should i care for third-rate talent when the games still work without it? I mean, look at how Nintendo cheaped out on voice talent for BotW to the detriment of the game.

I don't care that much about it and it only feels missing because they keep making cinematics that require it.

Also, voice acting would mean the english version would be dubbed in english and knowing GF they wont put an option to have jp audio with english subs + english voice actor drama.

TPCi has shown that they are perhaps the worst English dubbing company out there right now. Nintendo as a whole has taken a step back from where they were 5-8 years ago. BotW and Xenoblade 2 both had terrible dubs.

I think the voices used in Jap Masters are great and super fitting, with only a few I don't like. I don't watch the anime so I don't know if they're the same as there, but anyhow, if the maingame had those I'd like it.
Maybe if GF doesn't feel comfortable going full voice yet they could start with what many RPGs did years ago, the good ol' SFX-like voices during speeches. "Huh?" "I see!" "What?" "On my way!" "Thank you!" You know, those short ones. It could ease them into the whole voice acting thing if they don't want to fully commit from zero.

Latam's dub of BoTW was masterfully done, I still can't believe how good those voices and the acting in general was pulled off. It makes me wonder, though, since a localization was so successful, why couldn't the main, English one be good as well? I still can't get over how godawful Zelda's voice is, and she's supposed to be the most important voiced character of all.

These games are made on a shoestring budget as is. I doubt they'd increase spending to pay for voice acting, so what we'd actually get would be even less game made with the remaining funds, and then voice acting for that small game.

Bad because English dubs of Japanese videogames are the textbook definition of the word cringe and I fucking doubt those lazy fucks will give me the option of switching to the Japanese track or disabling the voice acting so I'll have to start playing on mute.

These games are already shitty as they are they can't afford to lose the soundtrack just to dodge the voice acting.
