I mean, the fact Nintendo yeeted AC (and ended up serendipitously giving it the massive sales it saw) for Pokémon shows even they knew it wasn't strong enough to compete with Pokémon (can't have been to finish the game, like they claimed when they launched it so gutted).
But yeah, cling to those sales as if they have an effect on the franchise that's taken in a trillion dollars in 24 years. We all know what Nintendo prioritise deep down, even if we don't all voice it.
