Gen 8 has a lot of medieval fantasy and Arthurian tropes in it. Leon is clearly designed off of a famous or mythological king, presumably of the evil king as his signature Pokemon is a massive burning orange fire dragon that spits out hellfire. Leon also uses a possessed sword and shield from a dead Pokemon/person, a suicide bomber dragon, and an emotionally volatile dinosaur with axes for teeth. Leon is a character who does far more harm than good, and he uses a team of destructive Pokemon with sinister undertones.

Standard football uniform not much different from the ones irl. Cape to show off his status and sponsors, not much different from irl football shirts that say EMIRATES.
Sports cap which emulates a crown, better than having an actual crown (THAT would've been the tacky choice).
All in all Leon's design isn't bad at all, it's actually quite smart in the way it incorporates all these elements. He literally looks like a sports king.

Aside from how short the shorts are I kind of like it. It's definitely weird and very funky, and would be cringe af if someone irl tried to wear it, but for the Pokemon universe and specifically Galar region I like it
