>>44795635>Linearity is a good thingIf done properly. Just look at the Xenoblade games, the story progression is linear, but you have a shitton of side content and places to explore before continuing with the main game.
>Smaller selections of Pokemon are more funDexes should always be around 300-400 mons, if anything just so you don't see the same pokemon over and over in the opposing trainers' teams. Gen 1 and BW are the biggest offenders, but at least Gen 1 had an excuse. Its remakes fucked up, though. And in BW case, since you can't really explore that much until you hit a roadblock, you don't even have much pokemon options until much later in the game
>Getting rid of HMs was a mistakeHell no! I hate having to only use a team of 4-5 pokemon in old games because I'm forced to carry on a bunch of shitty moves. I recently played B2W2 with a Walk Through Walls cheat to avoid using HMs, and it was the most fun time I've ever had playing that game. Literally what's the difference between HMs and Key Items that do the same shit besides fucking up your team's moveset?
>Natures were a terrible additionI kinda agree with this, since I hate having to find the right nature for every mon I use, specially if I'm using a shitmon that barely has usable stats, and really needs the boost. They should be reworked on some way, or at least make the nature mints more prominent, and easy to get early in the game
>Totem battles were the best new mechanic ever, and should have permanently replaced gym leadersI love them, but I like having Gym Leaders as well. So maybe a combination of both would be the way to go here. Dynamax was kinda going for that, but since you can use it as well, and it's only a temporal HP boost, it really makes no difference, and only makes the battles slower in the main game
