The first lot of episodes were GOAT. Better than anything the ashnime had produced. But when it started just repeating stuff you actually see in game firsthand (basically from the gen 3 or 4 episodes onward) it got really fucking boring.

The manga barely has anything to do with Pokemon. They're just glorified weapons and plot coupons.

People have complained about the games focusing more on the humans as of late, but PokeSpe is even worse in that regard as it focuses on the humans to the point that the actual Pokemon are basically irrelevant

where did you get that from?

the fact that SM, SWSH and PM anime are focusing on characters more than pokemon is because Japan are going crazy over the characters and most people who bought SWSH did it for the characters.

coomers are the 90% of the franchise

Digimon did it and had great anime.
It's not even that there needs to be a focus on trainers or Pokemon at all. Keeping it even and just exploring the world and keeping things fresh with new character arcs is all we need. It's why the Kalos War and AZ are so refreshing. It's interesting worldbuilding and we WANT to know more about it. Every Digimon season has new humans with their own backstories and problems. Izumi is adopted, Yamato and Takeru are estranged because of their parents' divorce, Takato just wants to draw Digimon, Ruki sees them as tools for battle. The anime needs the same philosophy because all of these things resonate with kids.

The Pokémon anime simply feels to commercial to pull that off.
SM is the closest the anime has gotten, particularly with Mallow and her late mother, but on the other hand you have the whole Aether family conflict which feels superficial and distant.

Sun and Moon started the trend to focus on characters than pokemon just to mimic Yo-Kai Watch and Naruto

It has literally been the largest controversy in Pokémon ever.
And even then that's a horrible indicator. Pokémon has been the exception in terms of having literally every mon ever available in each installment going forward, that doesn't mean every other monster collecting game franchise is mainly human-focused.

Understand the purpose of Pokemon Generations is to celebrate 20 years of the franchise as a whole, and it featured shorts of the most iconic or memorable moments of across the then six generations. You got some creative liberties with a few episodes that focus on the supporting cast, but overall it was a near 1:1 adaptation of the games. If you thought that this was soulless and you prefer the anime over this, that's fine. The anime was designed to have much more freedom and it isn't constrained by a storyline. This was created solely for nostalgia and to promote the next wave of merchandise coming out.

You're right. I think if there's one thing the anime has done better than most of the other Pokemon media is how it portrays Pokemon as being different individually. Ash's Pikachu would feel afraid and not want to battle, he refused to evolve because if he did just to win one battle it'd mean admitting that he'd never be strong enough to beat them as he is now. This goes for most of the Pokemon in the anime and right now the only one I can think of in special off the top of my head is Gold's Togepi.
