This was the rare in my first ever pack of cards. I still have it, and have no plans on ever getting rid of it. It's also the reason Venusaur is my favorite Pokemon.

I wish I did. All I really remember about my Pokémon cards from that far back is that one of the other kids in the apartment complex stole 5 holographic Pokémon cards from my cards and that among them were Chansey and Gyarados. We never did find out who did it cause there were like 4 kids over that day and nobody confessed.

Ah, yes. I love that Arita chose to give this Pikachu dark purple ear, back, and tail markings. If only we're able to have Pokemon of vastly different colors in the wild. Stadium tried that, but unfortunately, we just have to pick between two colors now.

Yeah, it was a Fighting energy card that I found on the ground one day at the Boys and Girls Club.
I wasn't sure what it was for, but it said Pokemon on the back and that was good enough for me since I was obsessed with the show and Yellow version.
At the time the game was still fairly new, so while I knew it was a "Pokemon Card", I didn't know there was an entire game surrounding it, but I asked my sister if she knew and apparently it was big with the third graders already.
I carried it around with me for a few days and then my dad brought me home a booster pack. He worked at a local hardware store, which usually sold baseball cards but they had Pokemon and later Yu-Gi-Oh to try and capitalize on the craze and the fact that there were few big box stores around at the time.
I have no idea what the cards in the pack were, which tells me that none of them were holos.

In either case, I wish we had more cards like this where Pokemon are shown with a variety of colors. People love shiny Pokemon already; imagine there being slightly different toned Pokemon of across every species.

I dont remember the first card but I do remember buying packs almost everyday afterschool with my friends and trade them with other autists they were good and fun times, I used to collect fire and electric types.
Until one of my teachers found out, told the principal and banned them for being satanic

It was a batch my mom gave me in 1998 when I was 5 (she had gotten it from a friend of her whose son wasnt into it anymore)

I wasnt into Pokemon yet, it was a year before I got my first game (Yellow).
The batch contained Diglet, Machop, Charmander and Charmeleon in several occurrences.
I firmly remember the first one I saw was Diglet, and I was like "Wtf is this shit"

I remember getting this card, really liking it, then someone wanted to trade it for a Kingdra so I kind of accepted because I'm an awkward fuck but regretted it later because I like Venusaur more and traded back

A holo Charizard pulled from my very first booster. My friend's mom got me a pack, I didn't know the significance yet but they were flipping out and his older brother was pissed trying to get his mom to take it back. I was king of recess, kids would offer me their entire binders to trade for it, nobody else had one. Got stolen eventually

My first ones were a Diglett, Ponyta, and a couple other base set commons that were given to me on the playground in fourth grade. I avoided collecting the cards until I got those and learned it's a game and then I was hooked. Got close to completing the gen 1 sets over the years, then my nigger roommate stole a bunch of them when he moved out earlier this year.

I been buying packs again after 20 years of not buying. Opened a Charizard VMAX out of a $6 AUD pack. Sold it for $200 AUD. Bought another pack. Opened a Secret Rare Butterfree VMAX. Sold that for $35 AUD. Might buy a Vivid Voltage Booster Box or maybe something Champions Path.

I remember Machop, Ponyta, and some others.
I think they came from that fire/fighting base set theme deck.
